Coffee draining slowly: what to check

Compare a slow brew with the same recipe and setup. The clock alone does not determine flavor. Check the filter and execution before trying a grind change.

Try changing first

Choose one experiment your equipment allows. Compare using the same coffee and recipe. This list is neither a diagnosis nor a sequence of changes to make all at once.

  1. Check the filter and assembly

    Use paper, holder and assembly suited to your equipment. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. Check coffee dose and pours

    Compare quantities and pauses with the recipe. A different dose or sequence changes the time comparison.

  3. Try a coarser grind

    If grind is adjustable, make a small relative change in another brew. Never force a pressurized device’s plunger to overcome resistance.
